In this Kitco Review, we examine the business, what it offers clients. We take a look at its strong points, what we didn’t like, and whether we would use it to invest or not.
Who is Kitco?
Initially based out of Montreal, Canada the precious metals investing company now has offices in Hong Kong and New York. The company started back in the 1970’s buying and selling scrap gold. Fast forward to 1995 and Kitco.com was founded.
Kitco have grown over their long history and provide market information to investors. They are a reliable source for industry news, trends and prices.
Kitco Review - What Does Kitco Offer?
Kitco gives investors the chance to purchase from a wide selection of bullion, including bars and coins in gold, silver, platinum, rhodium and palladium. The company also offers clients the opportunity to sell their precious metals at a competitive rate.
The company not only sells and buys precious metals but is also recognized as having excellent information services about the precious metals industry. These include live quotes, up-to-date market information, online charts and news that can help any investor make informed choices.
Aside from these services, the company also offers secured storage, a buy-back program for precious metals and IRA accounts.
What To Like About Kitco
Easy to Use Website
Kitco has a very easy to use and navigate website which includes all the necessary information for making intelligent investment decisions. It has up-to-date prices, a multitude of charts and quotes along with the most recent industry news.
Long History of Service
With 40 years under their belt Bart Kitner has grown with the business and Kitco has grown in size throughout the years. Part of this service is phone support where investors and potential clients can speak with a representative before making an investment decision.
Fair & Reliable Pricing
The price list on their site is up-to-date, and fair for the industry. This ensures that customers know what they will pay before making an order.
What We DIDN’T Like About Kitco
Lack of Client Reviews
Kitco has been in business in one form or another since 1970, and as a result it is only reasonable to expect to find a great number of client reviews and testimonials. However this is not the case.
Business Consumer Alliance has no rankings or reviews for them and neither does TrustLink. This should raise concerns since satisfied clients provide peace of mind and insight into the reliability and ease of doing business with a company.
The two complaints filled with the Better Business Bureau are sadly both negative.
No Live Online Support
Although Kitco does offer phone support, in the fast moving modern world, being able to get immediate live support can make a big difference to the cost of an investment. In volatile economic times, prices can vary greatly at different times of day. Any investor with questions about a purchase they intend to make might have to pay several percent more than they need to due to having to wait for customer support.
Not a Gold IRA Specialist
While Kitco do offer gold-backed IRA services, this is not the main aim of their business. Their primary business is the trade of precious metals, not IRA-services. For somebody looking for gold IRA rollover services this may be an issue worth considering.
Kitco – IRA Fees
|Initial Setup Fees||Custodian Dependent|
|Annual Admin Fees||Custodian Dependent|
|Annual Storage Fees||$150|
|Minimum Purchase Amount||Not Disclosed|
|Preferred Depository||Brink's Global Services|
Rankings, Complaints and Customer Reviews
Kitco do not have many positive independent reviews available online.

Business Consumer Alliance
Kitco is not accredited by the BCA.
Despite having been incorporated as a business since 1995 Kitco has no reviews at TrustLink. This is a little strange as after over two decades there should be customer reviews available, good or bad.
Kitco Review – Closing Thoughts
Kitco offers a wide range of services that are useful to the investor such as the up-to-date prices and industry news, coupled with a large selection of precious metals to invest in.
However, the lack of online support and customer reviews is a little worrisome. When choosing an investment company it is important to have not only reliability but also transparency and peace of mind. With such a long history in the industry the lack of reviews raises concerns about how consistent the company’s service is.
Price of course is important when investing, but having peace of mind that there is a long history of exemplary service is equally as important.
